Gazelle App ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by Gazelle (the "App").

1. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide better services to all our users. The types of information we collect include:
A. Information You Provide & Device Permissions
- Camera & Photos: We request access to your device's Camera to allow you to take photos of your meals for AI-based nutritional analysis. These images are transmitted to our AI provider to identify food items and are not used for any other purpose.
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we may collect your name, email address, and profile photo (if signing in via Google).
- Physical Characteristics: To calculate calorie needs and track progress, we collect data such as your age, gender, height, weight, and activity level.
- User Content: We collect the data you input into the app, including food logs and meal descriptions.
B. Health and Fitness Data (Health Connect & HealthKit)
With your explicit permission, Gazelle interacts with Health Connect (on Android) and Apple HealthKit (on iOS) to import and export health data.
- Data Collected: We request access to read Active and Basal Energy Burned, Weight, Height, Body Fat Percentage, and Exercise/Activity Recognition data.
- Data Written: We explicitly request permission to write Nutrition and Hydration data to your health store.
We do not use this health data for marketing or advertising purposes. It is used strictly to provide the App's core functionality (e.g., calculating your daily calorie deficit).
C. Automatically Collected Information & Advertising IDs
- Device Information: We collect information about the device you use, including hardware model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID on Android or IDFA on iOS).
- Usage Logs: We collect data on how you use the app to improve our services.
- Crash Reports: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect data regarding app crashes to help us fix bugs and improve stability.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide the Service: Calculating nutritional values, tracking your daily progress, and syncing your data across devices.
- AI Analysis: We use Google Generative AI (Gemini) to analyze the food descriptions or photos you provide to estimate nutritional content.
- Health Connect "Limited Use" Disclosure: The use of information received from Health Connect will adhere to the Health Connect Permissions Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Health Connect data for advertising, marketing, or use-based data mining purposes.
- Advertising: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the App. This helps us support the free version of our App.
- Subscription Management: To process payments and manage your premium subscription status.
- Improvement: Analyzing usage trends via Firebase Analytics to understand which features are most popular.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
We work with Google AdMob to serve ads in our App. Google AdMob uses technology such as cookies and unique device identifiers (Advertising ID/IDFA) to personalize ads and measure their effectiveness.
- Personalized Ads: With your consent, Google may use your device data to show you ads that are more relevant to your interests.
- Non-Personalized Ads: If you opt out of personalized tracking, you may still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.

4. Subscriptions and Payments
We offer paid subscriptions (e.g., "Gazelle Premium") to unlock additional features.
- Payment Processing: We do not collect or store your credit card or payment information directly. All payment transactions are handled securely by third-party app stores:
- Apple App Store (for iOS users) - subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Store (for Android users) - subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Subscription Data: We receive a receipt or token from the app store to validate your subscription status and expiration date.
5. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf:
- Google Firebase: For hosting, database, and analytics.
- Google AdMob: For advertising services.
- Google Generative AI: For processing food analysis.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. You can delete your account at any time within the App settings (Profile -> Settings -> Delete Account), which will permanently remove your personal data from our systems.
7. Security of Your Data
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. However, no transmission over the internet or electronic storage solution is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
Gazelle is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.
